Its about 6pm on a typical May Bank Holiday when I pull up at the Queensford Lake for the first open water swim of the season. This is the view from the inside of the car! Hey, I’m going to get wet anyway right!
This has become something of a ritual and along with a few other hardy souls (or foolhardy maybe!) it’s wetsuit on and in I go. Blimey, I’d forgotten how chilly these first season swims can be. Thankfully my neoprene skull cap is preventing brain freeze and I’m soon into a rhythm. It feels great to be back in the water again and I’m looking forward to warm days, blue sky and still water.
Fingers crossed for the rest of 2015!
I can’t recommend the neoprene skull cap enough. It makes a huge difference and really does make the cold swim so much more bearable.

No I just need to get back into the habit of swimming in a straight line!
