St Georges Day Sportive

April 26, 2013 - Training
St Georges Day Sportive

First proper “event” of 2013 saw me and several hundred others descend on a school in Princes Risborough on a relatively chilly Sunday morning. I’d deciced to mix things up a bit this year so I’d start off with a cycle sportive.

There were three route options 74k, 110k and 135k. Bearing in mind that my bike is set up purely for triathlon its not the most comfortable thing to be cranking out the miles on! I’d whimped out and decided on the ‘short’ route.

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is an easy option by any means. This ride is in the Chilterns, and it sure ain’t flat! Here’s the route profile. Note to oneself -need to do more hill training!

Three and bit hours later I’m across the finish line. It has turned out to be a great morning, the sun shone, the course was well marked, the whole event well organised and it has been a good workout. Maybe I’ll be back next year for the full distance!
